Make a Right Mess

Not being afraid of making a mess will usually be something to tell if a person is more free with their creative selves. You may be a minimalistic bullet journal writer, which is awesome, but it's not the same as getting a bit colourful once in a while. Making a mess can actually get you to find your room cleaner than when you first started; considering the state you're making it will practically force the "Cleaning mother mode" out of you.
Being messy is a part of expressing yourself in a way. It allows you to throw any responsibility of keeping clean and organised out of the window (mostly) and will revive your inner child that let their parents do all the cleaning up after them. Some people love it, some people hate it, but it's always worth trying; experiencing the joy of seeing a newly tidied room after an enormous mess is never beaten by a constant tidiness. Sometimes, tidy is really boring; and that is the true purpose of making a mess.

Splatter Art

We sometimes need a boost in creating something, and splatter art is probably one of the messiest types. You need absolutely no experience with art to do this, and it gives you a chance to experience art in a less traditional aspect of creativity.
Get some paper, stick it to the floor and go wild with splattering paint onto it. Vary with colour, mixing colours etc.
Go ballistic with it!
It's best to do this outside, but if you do decide to create inside, make sure to cover your workspace extremely well with newspaper. (We don't want any splattered walls. Or do we?...)
Colour Run

Colour runs are extremely fun to do and are pretty much annual here in the UK. First, you run, and people throw all sorts of coloured powder over you to give you a little uniqueness and motivation. Usually, at the end of the finish line, you could run straight into a colour fight or a raving dance party outside in the sun. Covered in colour, dancing your problems away and moving your body at the same time? Sounds like the perfect start to release your inner wild side.
Sometimes it won't be a run as such, but something more like an inflatable obstacle course in the middle of a park. Either way, they're both things definitely worth trying.
PaintBombs

Paint bombs are water balloons filled with part paint and part water. If you decide for a messy summer afternoon, or an easy DIY room decor idea, this is the way to go. Not only will it give you a tremendous experience, you'll end up looking like you courageously fought in a battle of paint to the death.
( A bonus if you want to convince your children that you're an honourable member of the royal paintball society)
You can get water balloons from probably any local craft/children's shop for a fairly cheap price. Just be sure not to get the new ones where they automatically fill the balloons with water. You need to fill the balloons with 1/2 acrylic paint (or watercolour paint) and 1/2 water for a paint fight, and 3/4 paint and 1/4 water for
splashing your walls.
Leaf Printing

Leaf printing is something you can do all year round. Collect some leaves you think would be lovely to print with. Think of different shapes, sizes, root direction etc. You can create some amazing work by using paint to print them with. It's best to use non-dry leaves as they may break apart inside the paint, however that also may be a way of creating some art with it.
leaf printing can be done onto canvases, paper, newspaper, tables, walls, clothes etc. But it is important to make sure to use the right type of paint according to which material you are printing onto. For paper and things to hang up, it would be acrylic paint, and for fabrics and materials, it is best to use fabric paint.

Tie-Dye

Tie dye is another way of getting creatively messy whilst saving yourself some shopping time. Tie dye kits are available in almost any arts/crafts shop around.
There are a variety of ways to do tie-dye, with lots of different techniques and colours that will create you a simply stunning wardrobe!
It is suitable for young children and also fully grown adults - but again, wear some clothes you don't mind ruining during the process, the dye can sometimes be difficult to wash out.
You can even buy some fabric markers to design onto your clothes after they dry; draw your favourite word/phrase, image etc.
