MEDITATION

WHAT IS MEDITATION?
Meditation is a brilliant way to release any negativity and let go of the events that have happened during the day.
A lot of people think meditation is purely sitting cross-legged on a cushion in deep contemplation. However, meditation is something that can be done at almost every moment throughout the day in a variety of creative ways.
Meditation involves turning inwards to the mind itself. It is completely different for everybody, but overall it is a method of releasing the illusion of control. It can sometimes be a source of clearing energies, a process of gaining psychological insight, communicating with a higher power or simply a form of releasing any emotional blockage.
There are many different techniques for meditation, however, the main focus of it is the breath. Concentrating on the breath allows us to remain aware of inhaling and exhaling in the present moment; it doesn't mean forcing and regulating the breath, but simply allow the breath to exist naturally.
On this page, you will find some writing pieces and articles about experiences with meditation, tips and tricks on how to help you get started, a soothing moving image to help you relax with work, reading, or simply being, and a bit of mysterious insight to meditation you may not have known about before!

WAKING UP TO REALITY
Often when something greatly negative occurs in our life, it can jolt us into a different state of mind. We may feel disoriented or uncontrolled, and it can be a bit chaotic trying to control our thoughts. A lot of the time we end up in a state as the Buddhists call 'Monkey Mind' as if our thoughts are personified as monkeys leaping from branch to branch, at a rapid speed from one thought to the next. During this state of mind, all our fantasies fade away, and we experience reality with a shocking clarity. Quite often, this is what leads to awakenings - spiritual, or maybe just a simple shift in our perspective. It makes us largely aware of our importance, purpose and chance of being alive.
When a tragedy arrives, our priorities dramatically change. What seemed so important before has lost its significance and we are guided towards questioning our lives and what is truly worth doing. Eventually, some may consider this a profound awakening gift of change, one that largely evolves our morals and values of life outside of the 'dream state' we were subconsciously caught up in.
